Dan Chitwood - Lead Pastor

Principal Responsibilities are: to point Crossbridge in the direction God intends for us to uniquely follow, to come alongside others to help unleash the dreams God has for their lives as they pursue His purposes, to partner with others in cultivating a culture where people can explore biblical truths, ask spiritual questions, and seek an authentic relationship with God.

snapshot:: family, sports (especially football), 140.6, Go Blue!, country music, junk food, loud talker, love to laugh, musicals and Westerns (among my favorites are Oklahoma and John Wayne movies), Elvis music, tech gadgets, and my cell phone

life in the Chitwood house:: With four kids what do you think? Fast, loud, and lots of fun. To borrow a line from author Max Lucado – “I have a wife that is out of my league and four kids that are out of this world.” Our kids got their mom’s good looks and their dad’s mischievousness. They’re exactly the kind of kids I always hoped we’d have…lots of energy, gifted, funny, and have a heart for God and others. Met my best friend Kim our sophomore year in college and she is the coolest lady I know. She has more patience and grace for me than anyone else on this planet…put together….and that’s a lot of people and patience. Still can’t believe she said “yes” when I proposed and couldn’t imagine life in this world without her.

best childhood memories:: my Dad's "Colorado Wagon Wheels" (Hamburger Helper), Mom's gravy on biscuits, family vacations, watching The Dukes of Hazard and The A-Team with my Dad and brothers, eating toast and jelly with my mom, the chaos of Christmas and Thanksgiving at my grandparents

thought I was going to die:: splitting open my pants while break-dancing in high school

along the journey:: Pastors are like ogres….I mean onions…they have layers. Especially during the last 10 years, God has continued to peel layer after layer of my life away in getting to know Him better. His lessons on grace, authenticity in my spiritual journey, and learning to lighten up on myself have been fun, tough, and challenging. I have often referred to these times as being on God’s anvil. Kind of painful at times, but the finished product is much more refined. With so much refining needed, I don’t expect God to stop pounding anytime soon.

I’d like to say to the people of Crossbridge:: I hope your Crossbridge experience is filled with laughter, tears, highs and lows as we authentically journey toward God together. I look forward to doing life deeply with you as we pursue God alongside one another.
