Crossbridge Community Church began as Park Forest Church of God in 1967. Crossbridge is affiliated with the Church of God (Anderson, IN). In 2002, after a five-year period of tremendous growth, we decided to sell our property on Stellhorn Road and relocate to the north side of Fort Wayne. Crossbridge Community Church was adopted as our new name. After meeting in three different school settings during our first three years, we finally landed at the Parkview YMCA. Our partnership with the Y has been a great benefit to both us and them. On Sunday mornings we get full use of the facility (except for the pool and fitness room….so don’t bring your swimsuit or workout clothes) and from time to time we partner on outside events as well. When people ask, “What kind of church is Crossbridge?” we simply say, “It’s Relevant, Authentic, and Practical.” We spent the first several years as a portable church trying to find our identity. What we found is we have to be ourselves. We don’t try to look like anyone else. It really is just our goal to be relevant to people’s daily lives and their spiritual journeys, authentic in how we pursue God alongside one another, and practical as we look for and take next steps with God in our own lives and as a church. We don’t expect every church to look like Crossbridge, we just have gotten a real good grasp on who God has asked us to be…and we’re relentlessly pursuing that vision. That doesn’t mean we don’t change. In fact, we like to say that we’re consistently inconsistent. In other words, we are continually evolving as we find better ways to help people connect with God and take their next steps with Him. |
