Fast, loud, and lots of fun. To borrow a line from author Max Lucado – “I have a wife that is out of my league and four kids that are out of this world.” Our kids got their mom’s good looks and their dad’s mischievousness. They’re exactly the kind of kids I always hoped we’d have…lots of energy, gifted, funny, and have a heart for God and others. Met my best friend Kim our sophomore year in college and she is the coolest lady I know. She has more patience and grace for me than anyone else on this planet…put together….and that’s a lot of people and patience. Still can’t believe she said “yes” when I proposed and couldn’t imagine life in this world without her. best childhood memories:: my Dad's "Colorado Wagon Wheels" (Hamburger Helper), Mom's gravy on biscuits, family vacations, watching The Dukes of Hazard and The A-Team with my Dad and brothers, eating toast and jelly with my mom, the chaos of Christmas and Thanksgiving at my grandparents thought I was going to die:: splitting open my pants while break-dancing in high school along the journey:: Pastors are like ogres….I mean onions…they have layers. Especially during the last 10 years, God has continued to peel layer after layer of my life away in getting to know Him better. His lessons on grace, authenticity in my spiritual journey, and learning to lighten up on myself have been fun, tough, and challenging. I have often referred to these times as being on God’s anvil. Kind of painful at times, but the finished product is much more refined. With so much refining needed, I don’t expect God to stop pounding anytime soon. I’d like to say to the people of Crossbridge:: I hope your Crossbridge experience is filled with laughter, tears, highs and lows as we authentically journey toward God together. I look forward to doing life deeply with you as we pursue God alongside one another. things I’d rather not live without:: besides my family and friends…football season, Coldstone Creamery, Flat Top Grill, Famous Dave’s Barbecue, Deep Fried Corn Dogs, My Homemade Caramel Corn, Country Music, Diet Pop, moments that make me laugh and cry born there, lived there, visited there:: Michigan, Illinois, China future projects:: finish learning to play the guitar, renovate a house and re-sell it, build a four-season room on our house, write a book, go back to China, take our family to a game in the Big House and at Wrigley Field, hold a Movie Marathon where we watch all of the Rocky movies, all three Lord of the Rings, and all six Star Wars movies in a row, owning another four door light blue ’66 Chevelle Malibu, owning a Harley (my wife will let me own one, just not ride it) things that scare me:: forgetting someone’s name in public, snakes, heights when I’m not closed in, and did I say snakes? Having daughters…then having sons. Having both has been awesome….them dating someday scares me now. other than work:: time with my family, triathlons, reading 2-3 books at a time, movies, using my snow-blower, watching…coaching…talking about…or going to football games I hope heaven includes:: football, my adopted Grandma living on my street, instant ability to play the guitar, open mic night good verse to live by:: “They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city.” Acts 14:19-20 - Love that perseverance. No matter what, keep moving in the direction God points you. no thanks, I’d rather not:: sushi, cauliflower, sleeping without a fan, classical music, Ohio State Buckeyes. things that make you go "hmm":: Why people say; “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” What’s the point of having cake if I can’t eat it? when I grow up:: I’m going to either be a fireman, stand up comic, pro football player, country western singer, or the Jungle Boat Safari driver at Disney World. Unless I win the lottery. co-workers:: I love the people I get to do life with. It's great to enjoy the people you're around so much that it doesn't even seem like work. |
