I want to end a debate once and for all... actually a few debates all within a few sentences. Don’t worry, these statements are fact so there is no need to share an opinion:
1) Lebron James is the greatest basketball player of all time
2) Michael Jackson is the greatest musician of all time
3) Sausage biscuits and gravy is the greatest meal of all time
4) The color orange is the greatest color of all time
I am glad that we ended those debates at the beginning so that we can focus on this past weeks message for the rest of the blog.
This past weekend, Jordan wrestled with the question: Who is the G.O.A.T in the Kingdom of Heaven?
G.O.A.T is an acronym that stands for, “The Greatest of All Time.”
It is a question that the disciples approach Jesus with multiple times throughout the Gospels. Jesus responds by saying that the greatest among you is the one who is like that of a child and serves everyone (Luke 22:26).
In Eastern culture, when someone had a desire for greatness, it meant that they wanted people to serve them. The disciples were really asking Jesus, “who will be serving me in Heaven?”
This is why Jesus flips the script and challenges the Old Covenant way of thinking by redefining greatness. Jesus claims that the one who is great is the one who serves everyone humbly.
Ouch.
What if I have worked hard at my job in order to have other people serve me? Do I still have to serve them?
Yes.
What if I am in a position of power over people, do I still have to serve others?
Yes.
What if the people I despise need service, can’t someone else serve them?
Nope. Those are the exact people God calls us to serve.
I don’t know about you, but I want to bring God joy. I want to make God proud to call me His child. I want to serve everyone with a humble heart and feel God smile at me.
Don‘t allow comfort to overpower your call to serve the least, the lost, the lonely, and the forgotten.
Take these 3 Next Steps to prepare your heart for the message this week:

1) Serve 3 different people this week in any way that God calls you to do so
2) Spend 5 minutes praying for the other churches in Fort Wayne
3) Pray for the Pastors at Crossbridge. Pray that we maintain wisdom and energy moving forward with Propel
